Here is a review for a product I not only believe in, but am a trained instructor in it's use. The Defender 1 can be seen in the movie The Men Who Stare at Goats, only at that time it was called the Predator. The new name is far more appropriate because Predator makes it sound like a device for killing and this is far from the case.
This seemingly innocent piece of plastic is one of the greatest less-than-leathel self defence tools ever created. There is a whole line of defenders of all different styles. (check them out at Beaver Adventures) Now some are more aggressive and can do damage, let's face it anything can do damage if you use it that way.
This model is designed to inflict maximum pain without permanent harm. It can be done by pressing into points on the attacker's body, capturing digits, ears, lips, noses etc. The ridges are for scraping along soft tissues to cause pain. It can be used in several thrusting techniques to back off an attacker. And then there is the ever dreaded bonk.
This strike is done to boney structures of the oponents body using the primary striking surface, just like a hammer. I can tell you may be skeptical, many people are until they've felt it first hand. Which a good instructor will demonstrate. :)
It isn't difficult to learn how to use one and there are training DVD's staring the creator himself, Master Brusso, my Sensei.
If you want to check it out or get one, visit the Beaver Adventures online store and put an order in. Don't forget to e-mail them for the Mad Gremlin discount! (5%)
Trust me, you can protect yourself and your loved ones with a Defender, I do.
